This retrospective study was carried out on 100 consecutive patients who underwent operation because of suspicion of acute appendicitis at Dae Han hospital during one year of Aug. 1, 1991 to July 31, 1992.
@ES the results obtained were as follows:
@EN 1) The age distribution is between 7 years and 74 years and its peak incidence was in the second and third decades.
2) Male to female ratio was 1.44 : 1.
3) It occurred most frequently I the spring and summer season, and its peak incidence was in june.
4) Right lower quadrant pain was major complaints. Being present in 78% of patients.
5) Histopathologically, there showed 20% of fecalith, 62% of suppurative, 8% of gangrenous, 7% of perforated appendicitis, and 3% of periappendiceal abscess.
6) Error diagnosis were noted in 20% of undergoing appendectomy, but it was included focal appendicitis.
7) Positive rate of CRP was 83% and negative rate was 17%.
8) Sensitivity rate of CRP in acute appendicitis was 85% and specificity rate was 25%.
9) Mortality in th series was none.
